Welcome to Corporate Intelligence Consultants (CIC). As an employment screening company, we are dedicated to assisting survivors of human trafficking. If you are a survivor looking for guidance under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)'s latest amendment, Section 605C, you have come to the right place. This page will help you understand and assert your rights as outlined in this significant legal amendment.
About the New FCRA Amendment
The latest amendment to the FCRA has introduced provisions to block adverse information linked to human trafficking survivors. This amendment, brought forth by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 (2022 NDAA), aims to support survivors by enabling Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs) to block such adverse information.
Your Rights Under the New FCRA Law
As a survivor of human trafficking, you now have the right to request the blocking of adverse information that resulted from severe forms of trafficking or sex trafficking. This pivotal change aims to facilitate your access to job opportunities, housing, and other essential services.
How to Request Protections Under the FCRA
To request the blocking of adverse information:
- Prepare the necessary documentation, including personal identification, proof of your trafficking situation (termed "trafficking documentation"), and specific adverse information you wish to block. This documentation can include determinations made by a non-governmental organization, a human trafficking task force authorized by a Federal, State, or Tribal government entity, or a court of competent jurisdiction. Self-attestation is permitted when accompanied by documentation from the mentioned entities.
- Contact us via the channels provided in the 'Contacting CIC' section.
- Work with a CIC screening specialist who will guide you through the process.
