CIC Security Management

What’s the big deal? Why should we care? From our experience, the appearance of, “being secure” has value. A closed and locked door tells an opportunistic thief that there may be other measures in place inside and perhaps it might be better to move on to the next business where they leave doors propped open and vehicles with the keys inside. It is in everyone’s best interest to take proactive steps to assess their company’s vulnerabilities and develop a plan to address any problem areas. A best practice is to engage an outside firm whose professionals can look at your facility with a fresh eye.

Our 40+ years in business serving a wide variety of corporate clients has shown us over and over that being proactive about your building security reduces liability and saves money. If you need some help with a security related issue, a Security Vulnerability Assessment is an excellent place to start. CIC has a team of experienced security professionals who can do a Vulnerability Assessment of your facility and train your employees in Workplace Violence & Active Shooter Threat Response.

Security Vulnerability Assessment

In our current environment, with a higher rate of workplace violence and bolder more desperate drug dependent individuals, some effort should be made to improve the access control of your business. A Security Vulnerability Assessment will include surveying these concentric perimeters:

1. Before the Property Line

1. Before the Property Line

2. At the Property Line

2. At the Property Line

3. At the Building

3. At the Building

4. In the Building

4. In the Building

Security Case File

A local plant manager wanted to test the security of his facility and hired a CIC investigator to attempt to access product in the overnight hours. The investigator viewed the facility from the street looking for any possible weak points. He observed the traffic flow of people and vehicles into and out of the facility, and made note of recognized patterns.

Later that evening as the sun went down and traffic lessened, the investigator drove into the parking lot unquestioned. He then proceeded to walk into the back door that was unlocked. From that point he made his way back and forth through the facility where he was able to load his truck with 8 boxes of this company’s product.

This was nearly $3,000 in product lost by this company without even being detected. The next morning, the investigator delivered the goods to the plant manager, the head of security and many front line supervisors. Needless to say, the demonstration shook the team up quite a bit. CIC spent time with the company over the next weeks to complete a building survey, create choke points, eliminate keyways, and establish key control protocol.

No need to attempt another break in. Their facility is now soundly secure.
